𝗣𝗨𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗝𝗔𝗬𝗔, 𝟴 𝗔𝗽𝗿 𝟮𝟱 – On 8 April 2025, the Commandant of the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC), Brigadier General Zamsari bin Abu Hassan, officiated the Officer Leadership and Ethics Module (OLEM), marking the beginning of an intensive leadership programme for 180 course participants of Cohort 54/2025.
OLEM is designed to equip future leaders with the tools and mindset needed to lead effectively in today’s dynamic and evolving command environment. Through focused learning and critical reflection, participants will enhance their leadership competencies and ethical foundations.
As part of his visionary approach, the Commandant has integrated leadership and war studies literature into the module through the OLEM Commandant’s Reading List. This curated collection of works offers strategic insights and timeless lessons from history, enabling course participants to deepen their understanding and navigate the complexities of a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world.
In a strong demonstration of Defence Diplomacy, the Australian Defence Force has generously contributed copies of the Malayan Campaign Battle Study Guide—a comprehensive resource produced by the 2nd/30th Training Group of the Australian Army, based in Butterworth—to MAFSC.
During the opening ceremony, the sponsor Directing Staff Officer for OLEM, Lieutenant Colonel Ithin Hj Kawi, accompanied the Commandant in presenting the book to the Course Leader of Cohort 54/2025. This symbolic gesture reflects the enduring collaboration and shared commitment to professional military education between Malaysia and Australia.
