Putrajaya, 14–25 April 2025 – The Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) successfully conducted the Defence Industry Visit (DIV) 1 & 2 programmes from 14 to 25 April 2025. The visits, part of the PSD 5233 – Defence Management course curriculum, were held at HIKMAT Hall, MAFSC, and included an on-site industry visit across the Klang Valley.
The programme was designed to give course participants (CP) critical insights into Malaysia’s dynamic Local Defence Industry (LDI) landscape. Among the key objectives were:
a. Gaining an understanding of the current development and growth trajectory of Malaysia’s defence industry.
b. Examining the collaborative roles of the Government, Research Institutions, the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), and the Private Sector in nurturing industry development.
c. Assessing the challenges faced and the strategies implemented by stakeholders in advancing the sector.
The DIV 1 & 2 programme was structured around the four strategic domains outlined in the 2020 Defence White Paper: Air, Sea, Land, and Cyber.
Participants engaged with leading local and international defence industry players, namely WESTSTAR Aviation Services Sdn Bhd, AERODYNE Group, KEMALAK Group Sdn Bhd, G7 AEROSPACE, PETRONAS, TH Heavy Engineering Berhad, BAE Systems (Cyber Division), LUNAS Lumut Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd, AIRBUS Helicopters Malaysia Sdn Bhd, GADING MARINE Industry (M) Sdn Bhd, Science & Technology Research Institute for Defence (STRIDE), LEONARDO Malaysia, AIROD, MINDMATICS, BOFORS, GOOGLE (Cyber Security Division), DESTINI PRIMA, GLOBAL TURBINE ASIA, System Consultancy Services, Advanced Defence Systems and TAE Aerospace.
Through these engagements, participants were able to observe real-world applications of defence management strategies and explore innovation-driven initiatives that will shape the future of Malaysia’s defence ecosystem.
