𝐏𝐔𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐉𝐀𝐘𝐀, 𝟗 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: The Malaysian Command and Staff Course (Joint) Serial 54/2025 had the privilege of attending an insightful talk by Lt Gen Dato’ Masro bin Kaliwon RMAF, the Air Operations Commander. The session, held at the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC), was attended by the Brig Gen Zamsari bin Abu Hasan, the Commandant of MAFSC, Col Sukiman bin Mohamed Ghani, Chief Directing Staff (CDS), Col Ishak bin Ujang RMAF, Heads of Training Development (HTD), Faculty Members, Directing Staff (FMDS) and all Course Participants (CPs).
The lecture, titled Command and Control in Modern Military Operations: Leadership, Joint Doctrine and Asset Management in Complex Environments, addressed the critical roles and functions of an Air Operations Commander in war, peacetime, conventional warfare and military operations. Lt Gen Dato’ Masro bin Kaliwon RMAF emphasised the importance of Command, Lead and Manage (CLM) in today’s complex environment, highlighting the balance between operational demands and the need to preserve vital assets.
He also outlined the RMAF’s transformation vision towards becoming a “Full Spectrum Air Force,” stressing long-term capability development, organisational transformation and future force doctrines.
The talk provided CPs with a broader perspective on leadership in air operations, the necessity of joint doctrine and the strategic value of sustainable asset management. The session successfully deepened participants’ understanding of future force development while reinforcing the ethos of professionalism, teamwork and integrity in command philosophy.
