𝐏𝐔𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐉𝐀𝐘𝐀, 𝟐𝟑 𝐒𝐞𝐩 𝟐𝟓 : The Malaysian Command and Staff Course (Joint) Serial 54/2025 successfully conducted the Nepal Country Brief at Hikmat Hall, Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC), PUSPAHANAS. This academic engagement formed part of the MAFSC programme to enhance regional understanding and foster stronger professional military ties between Malaysia and Nepal.
Diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Nepal were formally established in 1960 and since then, both nations have enjoyed warm, cordial and cooperative ties. The bond, however, predates official diplomacy, as the Gurkhas served with distinction alongside Malayan forces during the Emergency (1948–1960), leaving a proud legacy of courage and sacrifice in Malaysia’s history. The first Nepalese officer graduated from MAFSC in 1989 and to date, 18 officers from the Nepali Army have joined its distinguished alumni network. Representing Nepal in this year’s cohort is Major Dipesh Thapa.
The Nepal Country Brief not only broadened participants’ understanding of Nepal’s rich history and strategic outlook but also reaffirmed the enduring friendship and growing defence cooperation between Malaysia and Nepal. The engagement stands as a testament to MAFSC’s vital role in strengthening regional bonds and cultivating professional military networks across borders.
The event was graced by the presence of Kolonel Sukiman bin Mohamed Ghani, Chief Directing Staff, Kolonel Ishak bin Ujang RMAF, Head of Training Development, Faculty Members, Directing Staff and fellow course participants of the Malaysian Command and Staff Course (Joint) Serial 54/2025.
